How’s Your Summer Going? A Few More Fun Options For You in Los Angeles

Posted on 19 July 2011 in Daily Daisy by Daisy

How is summer going for you? Lately, I’ve just been obsessed with trying to save large animals from poaching, like the rhinos and elephants. I adore the elephant, families led by the matriarch with sentimental qualities that exceed humans so was focused on getting petitions done on their behalf, etc. Anyway, have been also filling my summer with work and FUN stuff to do locally! Lots of options and free too. Like? Here’s some of my favs: The Hammer Museum is host to “Rock Nights”, the SM Pier has it’s Dance Series and Venice Momentum Art/Dance event all on Thursdays with the latter sometimes with a small charge, depending.. Friday and Saturday evenings, LACMA is host to jazz and Latin Jazz open to all. If you haven’t been to MOCA yet, the Japan Town division has a great exhibit, Street Art in which Banksy, a Londoner artist is covering the fee entrance all day on Mondays. Banksy’s statement went something like this..”No one should have to pay to see street art, only when they have it removed!” What a character, you have to go see this exhibit before it leaves town. The SM library also has educational, music, local history, etc. events during the weekdays. I’ve enjoyed all of the above at one time or another and will be at one unusual event coming up on Sunday the 31st on the SM Pier. The city is celebrating and hosting a large navy ship, The USS Abraham Lincoln which can deploy 4 planes a minute in war zones and is in California for Navy celebrations. This event will include the Navy’s band, The Destroyers and The Leapfrogs, the Navy’s parachute team will land on the pier during the event. Different and unusual, I like it. Happy Summer Days to you! If you have any suggestions, let me know, I love to maximize my summer since there are so much available during the summers here in LA. On Facebook, ‘Like’ my post and add a suggestion/comment for me and see you around town!
